2. Provident Crossings Retirement Community held its grand opening June 18 at 1950 S. A.W. Grimes Blvd., Round Rock. The independent living retirement community features 129 apartment homes ranging from studios to three-bedroom suites. 3. Pflugerville city officials celebrated the opening of Austin Executive Airport on June 8 at 6012 Aviation Drive, Pflugerville. The airport, formerly known as Bird’s Nest Airport, is now open for corporate and private planes. Travis County Commissioner Ron Davis said it is expected to create 645 jobs within 10 years.
4. Fresh Donuts opened June 6 at 1920 Sam Bass Road, Ste. 900, Round Rock. The bakery serves donuts, kolaches, tacos, croissants, espresso and smoothies. It is open 5 a.m.–2 p.m. daily. 238-8818
5. Williamson County officials celebrated the grand opening of the new Quarry Splash Pad on June 10 at the Southwest Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, Leander. Water features include water cannons, waterfalls and water jets. There are two large pavilions, two birthday pavilions, restrooms and a concession stand located in the 2-acre park. Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily with an entrance fee of $1. 260-4283
6. Souper Salad opened in June at The Shops at Tech Ridge at 12901 N. I-35, Ste. 1830, Austin. Souper Salad Inc. signed a franchise agreement with Pflugerville resident and real estate investor Denise Jordan to open the 3,800-square-foot restaurant, which features a variety of fresh-cut salads, homemade soups and baked breads served in a buffet format. www.soupersalad.com
7. Brenda Carrera opened Hair Central on May 2 at 3810 Gattis School Road, Ste. 104, Round Rock. The location was previously the site of Country Cuts. The salon offers hair cuts, colors, perms, highlights, low lights, hair feathers and conditioning treatments. Hair Central will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony open to the public July 11 at 11:30 a.m. 733-5555
8. Sacred Heart Community Clinic held a dedication ceremony June 9 for its new permanent facility that opened in May. The free clinic, located on the St. William Catholic Church campus at 620 Round Rock West Drive, Round Rock, is run by a volunteer staff and treats children and adults Tuesdays from 5–8 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.–noon. 827-7422, www.sacredheartclinic.
