After hearing stories roll in about do-it-yourself disasters, professional handyman franchise, House Doctors, decided to do something about the issue. Tapping into the power of social media, House Doctors has launched a Facebook contest where fans from across the country can submit their “DIY Disasters” for a chance to win half a day of handyman service.

“As a brand that focuses on the highest levels of customer service, it is important that we continually look for ways to interact with our current and future customers,” said Jim Hunter, president and chief executive of the 90-plus-unit franchise. “This is a way for us to learn more about our customers and interact with them in a setting where they can really see how much our services are needed.”

From June 6 through July 15, anyone who has ever had a do-it-yourself disaster is encouraged to submit a story or photo to House Doctors for a chance to win a half day’s worth of handyman service, valued at $400. Facebook fans of House Doctors can find contest entry instructions at facebook.com/HouseDoctorsFans. With Facebook users spending more than 700 billion minutes a year within the social network, House Doctors is reaching out to its customers where they already spend much of their time.

House Doctors has built its success on minor home repairs, often seen as insignificant to larger contractors. The House Doctors philosophy, “A Handy Man You Can Trust, Guaranteed,” has aided the company in providing a trusted service to its communities while keeping up with the demand of small home repairs.

The DIY disasters contest winner will be chosen on July 18 and will be able to cash in on their handyman service prize anytime afterward. The winner can use the $400 worth of service to correct a do-it-yourself disaster, or it can be applied toward a future home repair or project.
