16 Denver-area hotels rated tops by US News; 2 make national 'best' list

Sixteen Denver-area hotels have made U.S. News and World Report’s 2011 list of the top 850 hotels in America, including two that made the exclusive list of “Best Hotels in the USA.”

The Ritz-Carlton, Denver and Four Seasons Hotel Denver both placed on the list of the top 86 hotels in the country.

That ranking system was based on accolades from travel experts, placements on nationally known best-hotel lists, lauds from travel books and scores from user-based travel websites.

Of the Ritz-Carlton, Denver, the magazine’s top-ranked area hotel, U.S. News said it was ideally located near many attractions, has lower rates than most facilities in the Ritz-Carlton chain and features “spacious rooms and extremely friendly customer service.”

For the Four Seasons, its No. 2 Denver hotel, U.S. News noted its quality amenities and service, including its full-service spa and “mouthwatering restaurant” but added that some visitors complained of late-night noise from nearby bars.

Three other hotels made the U.S. News list of the Best Hotels in Denver:
