Question on Third Generation Colt SAA

I am new to this forum (and to Colt in general). I just purchased a 4 3/4 .357 Colt SAA with a Nickel finish. The serial number is SA54682, which puts its manufacture date between 1981-82 according to the book "Colt: An American Legend," written by RL Wilson. Looking at the power marks on the front of the cylinder, it appears that it has been fired (although I would guess less than 100 rounds). The previous owner(s), however, did not seem to be aware that the cocking mechanism must be fully cycled in order to prevent timing issues. Thus, although the cylinder does not lock, there is the tell-tale "cylinder ring." I purchased this piece for $1275, is that a fair price in your opinion? It appeared to be reasonable based on prices I found online at various sites. First welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new (to you) Colt. There is just nothing quite like a Colt SAA no matter what the caliber. The .357 will be a good economical shooter for you. You can shoot light target .38 Specials to heavy .357s, actually the .357 is pretty versatile. I know you will enjoy it, you already know about not lowering the hammer from half cock. You can tie up the gun doing it & will let the locking bolt contact the cylinder between the locking notches. That is what usually creates the ring around the cylinder.
